Difficult Fords

| I am a mechanic at a used car dealership. I have experiance with a very wide variety of makes and models of vehicles. I have been turning wrenches for about 12 years now. I dont really have a problem with the Ford brand in general, but I must declare my loathing in the maintanance or worse, the repair of almost any Ford product. I would guess that the engineers at Ford have never really even picked up a wrench in their lives. The way that these vehicles are designed, it is very labor intensive to do any kind of work. I present evidence via "Alldata". This very useful program is like a bible for mechanics. It provides a labor estimating guide used to help generate estimates for labor hours. Based on this system, Ford products tend to have higher labor times for routine maintance, or heavy repairs as opposed to other vehicle manufactures labor times. This in turn, is what drives up the price for repairs on the Ford line. I wont really go into detail about how I curse Ford when I have to obtain a "special tool" to perform a task, that any good set of tools cannot do. If I hade my way, I would simply shut the company down, and ship the designers off to Korea, to work on the Kia and Hyundai. Ha ha. |

here here i was i ford lover most of my life but after owning them and working on them thay are by far the most worst pice of shit to own drive and work on now im a holden fan lol |

gt, honestly ford is the largest company when it comes to recalling parts, and just plain shitty design. A funny little fact is that U-Haul wont lend to Ford Explorers due to "Saftey issues". wonder how that happened? |

ummmmmmm i havent heard any recalls on fords...most be only in your dreams eh yes it’s only in your dreams...umm prehaps you watch the recalls more instead of guessing..gm’s have more recalls and most of gm’s workers get laid off alot...fords still has the mustang..what happen to chevys firebirds or z28’s? ill tell you they dont have enough money to put that shit togather and i dont know why cuz most of there parts or cheap!! gm’s has went downhill and are still going downhill.. only thing that got that is fast is the corvette oh ya brag bout that 500horsepower.well fords has on faster and it’s the new FORD GT 40 it puts out over 500 and would smoke any chevy on the market..later pussies |

if ford were so great then why dosent NASCAR use the 351 ford as the base motor? ALL NASCAR cars are chevy 350 (not stockers obviously) and 90% of super stock and pro stocker class drag and track cars are chevy motors. about the only thing about theres motors are the blocks, and then there usuly a high nickel content block. so back to the orignal proposal...if fords are so great, then why dosent NASCAR use them? |

Why do GM workers get laid off? its because there parts last forever so no one has to buy a new car, with ford u can only put on 100,000 miles before they croak, i got an 89 beat the hell outa chevy cavalier still runs and burns no oil at 150000 miles, my boss had a brand new excursion that was 3 years old, 115000 miles and burned up 3 quarts of oil every 2000 miles not to mention he had to get 2 new axles. What has my cavy needed? Brankes haha.Id rather push a chevy than drive a ford |

my neighbor used to have a ford and he put a quart of oil in the stupid thing once a month because it burned oil so bad, and now he bought a ram and he has never had to replace any of the oil in the engine, except for the regular oil changes but it burns no oil at all, my uncle also has a ford F-150 and that one is the biggest pig on gas that i have ever seen, and my chevy purrs like a kitten and it has a 350 with 330,000 km on it!!!! and still the original engine, and my grandfather also has a chevy 350 with 300,000km (ish) and the thing runs like new, if a chevy runs like crap it is because the owner hasnt taken care of it like a real man. |

actually i am a mechanic too but in australia im not too sure about the fords there, but in australia the fords are really great cars to work on much better then holden, and im not being biast since i drive a SS but anyway fords are much eaiser to work on and they think of such good things like something simple as when you refill the radiator ford has a air release valve to get the air out while holden you have to stand around for ages waiting and this was back in the early 90’s and while holden back in the 90’s still had stone age engine parts like the minis from the 60’s ford had the latest stuff like twin cams, fords are a much better car then holdens and when i get some money im going to dump the SS and get a XR8 or a FPV GT, only if i have enough money |
