Rivalries

There’s a person from marching band, a person from colorguard, and a drumline person driving to an intersection in the middle of the night with no other cars on the road. They hit each other and all cars are totaled! The colorguard member manages to climb out of the car and survey the damage. She looks at her twisted car and says, "Man, I am really lucky to be alive!" Likewise the marching band guy scrambles out of his car and looks at his wreckage. The drumline person just shakes their head and says to himself, "I can’t believe I survived this wreck!"
The marching band guy walks over to the drumline guy and colorguard girl and says, "Hey guys, I think this is a sign from God that we should put away our petty differences and live as friends instead of arch rivals." The drumline guy thinks for a moment and says, "You know, you’re absolutely right! We should be friends."
The colorguard girl says "Let’s see what else survived this wreck." So she pops open her trunk and finds a full unopened bottle of Jack Daniels.
She says to the drumline guy and marching band kid, "I think this is another sign from God that we should toast to survival and our new found friendship." The drumline guy says, "You’re right!" and he grabs the bottle and starts sucking down Jack Daniels. After putting away nearly a third of the bottle the drumline guy hands it to the marching band kid and says, "Your turn! The marching band kid sucks down a third and hands the bottle back to the Colorguard girl.
The Colorguard girl puts the cap back on the bottle and says, "I think I’ll wait for the cops to show up." ;-)

Maybe it’s just my band, but our guard is way too ditzy to do anything that smart. Nothing
against the colorguard or anything, but our guard is like a soap opera---so much drama
but no sense at all. It would have been funny if it didn’t have the guard and was like,

Uh...that actually pissed me off. To think that a guard member could trick ANYone is pretty
fucking stupid. Guard is for dumbshits that are too fucking lame to pick up an instrument
and PLAY. It’s called "Marching BAND" for a reason.
And if somehow a guard member were actually able gather up enough braincells to think

The new scoring system has the Colorguard with the band as it should be. So, before you make a stupid statement, as yours, DO THE RESEARCH!

Straight A student who scored a a perfect grade on all their SAT scores. I also play piano and even French horn during concert season, and I am currently taking guitar lessons. That joke is so funny! Whoever said color guard girls are dumb and ditzy obviously didn’t read this! I think all the people who didn’t like this joke obviously haven’t experienced guard, band, and drumline rivalries. |

Dear Cukoo for band,
I did not like your comment about color guard being "a group of idiots too dumb or too lazy to fucking learn how to play an instrument ." I have played piano for nine years, cello for five years, guitar for one year, and flute and piccolo for six years. Yes, I am in color guard, but I’m also first chair flute in my school’s band. Just because someone is in color guard doesn’t mean they are dumb and aren’t musical at all. We are entitled to be good at something other at color guard and we are certainly NOT stupid. I have been a straight-A student since middle school. Try to get your facts right about color guard girls (and guys) before posting your amateur opinions online. |

I am first chair clarinet, first trumpet in mb, second chair, first alto in jazz band, first violin in orchestra, first oboe, third chair in District band, played flute for seven years, play trombone,cello and baritone, played piano for eleven years, in the National Honor Society, and I have A’s. The morons in my colorguard, are whiny bitches who can barely twirl a flag,heaven forbid they play an instrument. The smartest person on the guard has a D average. They’re sluts and at least three of them have been pregnant. Those girls in my school’s colorguard are the only group of colorguard I have been exposed to, so therefore I am stating a fact. You may not like what I am stating, but to me I am stating truth. And before you go criticizing me for having amateur opinions, you need to look at yourself. i believe you also are stating an amateur opinion and by saying that I am wrong about stating my opinion you being hypocritical and now you’ve given me another reason to hate colorguard. |

alright, i have been reading these comments and i have to say is this: how the hell is twirling/tossing a flag/rifle/sabre harder than playing an instrument? Look at it like this: band ppl which includes the drumline have to learn the following- how to put our instruments together, learn all the notes, learn all the fingerings/positions/rudiments, learn how to read music, learn how to play the music, march ,and memorize it all. Guard on the other hand have to learn how to march and how to toss the flag without hitting you, other people, or valuable instruments that could cost you a big fat lawsuit. Now i ask you this: does it take more braincells to learn how to play an instrument or twirl a flag? |

Being is color guard is definitly as hard as band, i do both i marched clarinet before and i would say guard is harder, there is more than one type of spin you have to learn, many tosses etc, its not as easy as it looks. you have to learn the drill the band has to learn along with your own routine, and its not all that easy. plus alot of times the guard also has to make up our routine to go with the bands songs, then learn and memorize it. Band music is already written for them. so go f*** urself :) |

You think just because the music is already written for us we’ve got it made. Oooh, the band’s music is already written for them, oooh, they don’t have to learn all the different tosses, ohh, how come the band doesn’t have to make up a routine. Wahh, we have to learn both a drill and a routine. Well, we have to learn how to play, how to march, learn the music, and then we got to learn how to march, play, and memorize the music with out screwing up. Christ, youre actually giving Clarinet and horn players a worse name than what they’ve already got.
And in response to what was said about the show being boring without colorguard-
I beg to differ mi amiga. You can sure as hell have a marching band without colorguard. Look at any Big Ten Southern Marching Band. Its about the BAND and DRUMLINE. Not the guard. |

Hey its me again...i think the color gaurd can be really mean some times to other band members...i mean at our school they all have this weird thing going on between each other...its actually kind of scary. Now we are starting to all become friends...i mean the drums, band and color gaurd. |

I think it was stupid but funny. I am in colorguard and I think the guard girl was pretty smart. Colorguard is a sport and don’t forget it. Also color guard members are smart and we are the reason people come to see the feild show. |
