I have no qualms with the Army. I ran with the Marines and they are a very respectful group of gentlemen. Granted, some of them were a little off but every branch of service does. Either way, Army, Navy, and Marines all work hard so this joke really is pointless... |

Actually the Navy has a goat. And Army stands for Ain’t ready for the MARINES yet. AS being a Marine myself. there is alot of shit dished out between the branches always had been. I will tell you this don’t fuck with a Navy Seal or Force Recon. Another funny thing is that if one joined the Army, Navy or Airforce, did their time and then joined the Marines, you would have to go through Marine boot camp. Now if a Marine decided to try another branch of the service that Marine does not have to go through boot camp of the desired choice ( Army, Navy or Air Force). Besides you are all jealous because you don’t have the pleasure of being called "The Presidents Own!". |

Man, I don’t get it. I am a devil dog, damned proud of it, but I don’t go dissing other
services. We all have a job to do. Marines train like we do because it’s essential to our
fighting style; it wouldn’t make sense for the other branches to train the same way
because they don’t fight the same way. Marines are shock troops, pure and simple. Army
rolls in big, heavy and slow. Navy and Air Force are *for the most part* moving heavy shit
around. |

Personally, as a former paratrooper (always Airborne) I say screw all of you if you can’t take a joke! I had an uncle who was one of the first frogmen in WWII (read first SEALs), he dissed the Marines and the Marines dissed back. Army, Marines, Air Force, and Navy all diss each other, that’s the way it goes. But any of you rug riders out there think that means we won’t work together to kick you rumps, you’re in for another thing. We’re ALL in this together. We paratroops put down legs, but when our butts trapped behind enemy lines, those legs look good coming to relieve us. Naval air support or AF A-10s have looked real pretty to me; and I’ll rake on a Marine, but I’ve met few I wouldn’t want covering my butt in a fire fight. Of course, I’ll call him a jarhead when it’s over :-) |

oldallamerican does have it right. Every branch has their oun specialities and diferences. If they didn’t we wouldn’t have our seperate branches. In the end we all need each other and couldn’t function without each other. I have had the privlege of knowing a Navy SEAL officer, Recon Marine, Delta Force member, and an Army Ranger. All of whom are outstanding admirable men who desirve loads of respect for what they do. I won’t tell one of them that I thought one was better than the other, nor do I consider one of them to be the best over the otherst. All of them served(ing) over seas in the middle east. One even gave his life. I’m sure all of them would tell you that they all have different and vital roles in ensuring our countries way of life, and that there is a reason for having each different group. Each one does their job to the best of their abilitles. I think all of these men as well as all military personal desierve a "hey, thanks man" from all of us who don’t have to put our lives in harms way. |

TACP, I have met very intelligent Marines, both E&O, so Id watch what I say. We are all one force and one team. I personally think all the special units (Seals, Rangers, Force Recon) are equally badass and go through specific training catering to their specialty. Thats great you have pride for Marine, Navy, whatever. But dont bash your brothers-in-arms. Its disappointing and embarassing when we argue among ourselves when the real enemy is in other parts of the world (specifically Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, N.Korea). hey you navy seals punks, did you know that seals are trained by marine? ah, do your research. another thing, you can volenteer to be a seal but to be recon you first have to pass an inductrination test. you know tipical marine pt, six mile run under forty five minutes, 10 mile hump withfull gear, bunch of kalastenichs, obstabcle course three times under 2 minutes each, and water treading for 30 minutes. and to make it all interesting this is all done without resting, do seals do that? hell no. after that you are in recon platoon, and if you are a stellar marine then they pick you to go the schools which includes also a hell week. sound familiar? so after all this then you can become a force recon marine. all seals have to do is pass their little boot camp and tough out bud/s. |

look i have friends that are marines.airmen and in the navy. we get together and talk somtime about the good and bad of all branches. but being army you have to look at all the specilities we have infrantry,ranger,specialforces,paratooper,scuba,airassult,pathfinder,halo,sapper and lets not forget delta force. nobody know who they are. we are made up of so many area it’s crazy and i’am sure everyone else has theyre own. you cant compare regular soldiers,marine airmen or sailors to each other cause you have at least one in every bunch. believe me i know some ex-marines that come to the army and get fucked up thinking it’s easy and their shit bags if the marine was that tough what the hell happen to them. but that goes to show. dont matter what branch you in it dont make you anymore powerful and stronger then what you already have inside. hooah army of one!!! I stumbled onto this forum by accident, but maybe it’s the right place to get a question answered that’s bugging me - seeing as there are so many military individuals offering an opinion.
I’m a layman, not military, watching a movie called The Sum of All Fears on tv. Ok. Just placing the situation into context. And the question that pops into my mind, is: What is the difference between Army, Navy, and Marine? It can’t be just the simple Land versus Sea thing, because both Marines and Navy are seafaring, no? Can someone in the know point me in the right direction, because it all looks the same to me, and I know there’s GOT to be a difference somewhere, or you guys wouldn’t be getting so hot under the collar defending each territory, right? |

I’m ex navy. Was in before most of you kids were born. USS SELLERS...DDG-11...late 1960s. I tip my hat to any man or woman who has enlisted in any of our armed forces. The bickering between the services is great. Keep it up. It’s an indicator of pride in your branch of the armed forces.
God Bless all of our people who serve our country. They are the best. |
